This is a really cool effect. I'm surprised more people haven't started using it.

    Hello,

I discover your blog with a research on the radio.
I use it to announce you the arrival of the new website of RCM (Small French local radio).
I also offer you to listen to us ( www.rcmlaradio.fr a 'good morning' on Tchat will please us).

Excuse me for bad English, it is not my native language (if you speak three languages you are trilingual, if vous speak two languages you are bilingual and if you speak a single language you are French ;-)

Thank you for this small message on your blog.

    hey guys!
I'm Georgian web developer ( maybe not yet), and i'm wondering if it's possible to tweak disqus commenting system to display this gadget in my native language? and if not, what other similar services can you suggest?
    10x!

Hi Ben, I stumbled across your post quite late because I want to implement something similar. I notice a small problem on rssmeme.com:

If I open two comment iframes, by clicking the "contribute" links against two stories then click the Disqus "options" button against the second iframe it shows options for the first iframe.

Any ideas on how to fix it?
  • Benjamin Golub · 9 months ago
One easy way to fix it would be to just empty all other Disqus iframes when
you open one; essentially only let one disqus thread be expanded at a time.

Disqus, in my opinion is the future of commenting. It simplifies that work of the webmaster and makes everything much much simpler.

I currently have no control over my Movable Type powered blog. A friend is hosting it for free, but won't give me any access to it, so I CANNOT add a plugin such as the Disqus(.com) plugin.

You can make these ones start hidden by calling .hide() after the height is set in the first loop. However, doing this will cause them to appear for a brief moment then disappear - not very good looking.

If you set the heights of the divs statically, then the changes are pretty minor to get them to start hidden. I can post some example code if you need it.

Dynamically calling this script with the style writing will blank out your screen for some reason (I’m not a javascript expert so don’t ask me why).

You need to modify the stylesheet because it looks for #dsq-content but I just had you change it to #dsq-content-old after you load the next set of comments!

Thanks for sharing, what's cool about Disqus is that it makes it painlessly easy to comment, and does a good job at blocking automated spam.
